| Our AWANA Club, for children aged three through sixth grade, provides solid teaching from the Word of God, with a focus on Bible memorization, in a fun environment. The name AWANA is derived from the first letters of "Approved workmen are not ashamed" as taken from 2 Timothy 2:15 of the Bible. The AWANA Club functions in three distinct groups: The Cubbies are for age three through Kindergarten begins to instill some key Bible verses into the minds of these youngsters, and seeks to lay the groundwork for them to accept Christ as Savior as they begin to understand the subject of salvation. Children from first through third grade attend Sparks, which builds on the lessons learned in Cubbies, and seeks to greatly expand their repertoire of memorized verses, with a focus on understanding the verses that have been learned. Finally, those in fourth through sixth grades attend Truth and Training, which concentrates on helping them practice and apply Scripture in their daily lives. All three components of AWANA are Gospel centered, and our many workers have a strong desire to help these children get saved and grow in the Lord. An activity time is held each evening in our Christian Life Center, to give the children opportunity to play off some extra energy, and practice good skills of cooperation and teamwork. |
