Tommy was approved as a World Baptist Fellowship missionary to Thailand in 1987. He was saved at the Bethel Baptist Church of Arlington, Texas when he was a senior in high school.

He is a 1984 graduate of Arlington Baptist College.  On September 2001 he was married to Kannika in the country of Thailand.
